Hi all
We've been having trouble with our family dog (technically my gfs sisters dog but she's part of the family and she's around us all the time) for a couple of days now, and I'm not sure what the reason could be.
She is a 2.5 yo frenchy bread, who's always been very affectionate and likes to be pet. Starting a couple of weeks ago, around the start of heat cycle, we noticed some unusual behavior. She generally likes being pet, but she will suddenly snap at people. It usually starts with her eyes darting around and her ears pulled back, then she'll suddenly snap at whoever is touching her and will make high pitched barks, like she's in incredible pain. It's a very light bite, it feels more like a warning, I don't think she intends to influct pain. She will then usually be very apologetic, like she knows she did something wrong, but it makes me very uncomfortable around her as I can't tell when she wants or doesn't want to be pet. Just this morning she came to sit by me like in the picture, but as soon as I touched her I noticed her eyes darting around and her ears pulled back like she's about to snap.
It doesn't always happen right away, sometimes she'll sit on someones lap and only snap after a couple of minutes out of nowhere.
She has never been like this before. It seems to happen more in me and my gfs apartment, we are expecting a child in the coming weeks/days, which could also be related.
Does anyone have any idea what the reason could be? I can provide more information if it helps.
