Summary

The E8 is definitely something special. The SST-36F LEDs do an amazingly good job - low CRI, but neutral CCT with a neutral tint. Add to that a UV light that, while unfiltered, is quite powerful.

The side lights with replaceable panels are something new. They work really well as mood lights, signal lights, or simply to pleasantly illuminate a small table.

Clearly, due to its concept, this is not a hardcore outdoor light. But it is definitely a great EDC light with multiple functions and a simple UI - and those who enjoy “fidgety” lights might be very happy with it!
It finds it's way into my pocket regularly and has earned a permanent spot in my rotation of favorite EDCs.

Summary

The K1 is a great, small light. The white light is impressive for the size, the laser powerful and the new red light definitely more than decent!

The UI is simple but effective. Only the slightly delayed reaction of the switch clouds the picture a little bit. The rotary ring feels quite good for that, just the right resistance, a slight detent for the settings – and it will almost certainly not turn by accident.

I suspect that the decision between red light or UV will not be easy for many. I cannot judge the UV light, the red light is definitely well implemented.

Review of the Wuben H4 on dahamstah.de

There is also a german version, it can also be found on BLF and german TLF.

You can buy the light directly from Wuben. (no affiliate link)

Summary

Well, what can I say? Overall, the H4 comes very close to what I hoped for. Only the missing lockout is unpleasant. That already bothered me with the Petzl Actik and is (battery in or insulator out) always an extra step to put the light into operation. It would be nice if Wuben could improve there for the future.

The light can be operated intuitively even by people not into lights, is relatively light, sits great on the head and offers significantly better light than I expected in this class. It is slightly heavier than a Wurkkos HD12 or Sofirn HS11, but also runs longer, takes AAA cells and is more versatile.

The light does not score with spectacular data or features, but simply with a lot of everyday usability and fills niches that other lights leave open. Anyone looking for a light for one of these niches can be very happy with the H4. Likewise, anyone looking for a reliable companion for the dog walk, the workshop or the car.

And last but not least, alpinists and long distance hikers may also take a look at it. Even if there are good alternatives for this use case, the light is definitely worth considering!

I got my hands on the possible new Version of the K1 - what's your thoughts about it?

Red instead of UV might be quite useful for some, a total loss for others.

Summary

Drawing a conclusion on this light isn’t easy. The build quality is good and the dual-switch concept is interesting. The light wears comfortably on the head, and the beam profile works well both indoors and out.

The UI unfortunately lacks any shortcuts—if you can live with that, it works perfectly and offers diverse adjustment options. In exchange, the performance is solid, and the included accessories are useful and varied.
The SST-40 wouldn’t have been my first choice, and I would have preferred High CRI in the flood channel, but the setup works surprisingly well.

My conclusion is likely already apparent: I like the light better than I expected before the review. Wurkkos got a lot of things right and designed a versatile headlamp—a V2 with a revised UI and High CRI flood would be a definite “buy” for me again!

Summary

The light left quite an impression on me. I didn’t expect the advertising promises to come so close to reality. Well, it’s not 1,500 lumens constant for 2.5 hours, and without the fan, the light would be a pretty normal, large right-angle light.

The UI is fine, the button is pleasant to operate. The clip seems well thought out, the headband works, but an upgrade wouldn’t be bad. So the basics are met.
Pair that with the active cooling, the good runtime, and the high sustained output, and it quickly becomes clear that Sofirn is offering quite a lot of light for the price.

As with any light with active cooling and thus moving parts, time must show whether the whole thing also withstands dust and moisture. With the IP6 rating and my impression of the light, I am in good spirits that the light is designed to be sufficiently robust.
Nevertheless, call me a coward, but I would not wash the light under running water as stated in the instruction manual.

Anyone who likes high output, enjoys playing with technical innovations, or simply needs a versatile right-angle light should definitely take a look at the HS45. I’m having a lot of fun with mine!
