Since when did beginner runner mean slow runner?

The gatekeeping on this sub is getting quite silly. Just because someone can run a 20 minute 5k doesn't mean they also can't be a beginner runner. They may be interested in fitness and have a base from another sport that's given them a solid starting platform, but they may absolutely still be a beginner runner.

"Beginner" doesn't mean slow, overweight and unfit. It means you're new to something. Someone may run a fast race but have 0 idea how to train or how the physiology works. That makes them a beginner regardless of their times.

Isn't the entire point of this sub to help and encourage each other? Getting angry because someone is faster than you is a little bit ridiculous. There's no need to be envious.

Faster and more experienced runners are helpful and encouraging to slower and newer runners, why can't we be the same for them?

Stop being so angry and jealous. Be kind to eachother and learn. We're all here because we love running and want to get better.
