Anyone have experience with removable palatal expanders?

I just got one a few days ago. My orthodontist said it's unique, and he must be right because I haven't seen anything like it online. My paperwork called it an "Arnold expander" or something like that, but he said he customized it, and he called it "his last name" expander.

So while it's unlikely you may have the exact expander as me, I am curious if anyone has seen effective results with a removable palatal expander as an adult.

And how long did it take to work, if it did?
