The tasks I handle with Gemini CLI are fairly simple, so I haven't really run into the issues others have mentioned. I’ve always stuck with 'auto' mode.
Recently, I checked with the /model command and realized it hardly ever uses the Pro model; its usage rate was almost always at 0. So, I tried manually switching to the Pro model and noticed the usage spiked immediately—it's already at 38% after just a few interactions. Its performance is noticeably better, and its ability to answer questions has clearly improved. I wonder if I was just used to a 'dumber' model before, making this one seem so much better by comparison.
Or maybe it's just psychological. Like many others, I also find Claude models to be superior. Could my perception of the Pro model being stronger also just be a placebo effect?

Regarding this question, Gemini CLI suggested that CLI tools can facilitate better deep research than the official web interface.
I think the Deep Research feature on the Gemini website is quite good, though not perfect. Gemini CLI claims that a CLI-based approach can be superior because it offers more flexibility—it can leverage various tools like search engines, code execution, local file access, and more, making it far more versatile than a standard chatbot.
It recommended looking on GitHub, but after a search, I found very few Gemini CLI 'skills' (maybe I'm just not searching correctly).
I’d like to ask everyone: Have any of you built deep research tools using Gemini CLI, and what was your process? Or have you come across any particularly impressive research tools on GitHub? Thanks in advance!
