Hey all, so needed to share with someone(s) who would understand. A little about me - 2.5 years into a health 'journey' (hate that term). Used semaglutide, cagril, and now reta for the last year - along with trt which I started in January.
The scale - has not moved, in over a year. Not by more than a pound or two in either direction. I've been frustrated as hell. I KNEW I was gaining muscle and losing fat in a deficit. I KNEW in my heart it was time to bulk (and my trainer has been on me to do it for a WHILE now)...but that number on the scale was absolutely killing me.
I do dexascans a couple of times a year. Last one was in December. I was 165 pounds. 16.7% body fat. Kept going with the process. Lifting progressive overload 4 times a week, focusing on steps, eating high protein in a slight deficit...
Weight today according to dexascan table: 165.3. Lean mass increase? 10 pounds. Body fat percentage? 11.1
Boys and girls, this is what body dysmorphia looks like. In the mirror I STILL just see fat...and clearly I am far from fat at this point. (yes I know dexascans aren't 100% accurate, but they're excellent for viewing trends for sure, and far better than those at home scales)
Take photos often. Make other people look at them. Listen to what your trainers and doctors are telling you - they probably have a more honest view of what you've got going on than you EVER will. This scan, plus what my trainer has told me...my fat man trapped in a fit man's body is finally ready to accept it...it's time to go into a surplus and see what we can do.
Cheers all - this is EXACTLY what I needed today!
