Input signal cutting out in Live 12

I recently upgraded to an m4 series macbook and am using an older Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt 2 interface with a hardware synth connected to it. When I monitor through the UA console it works fine but when I try to monitor through Ableton I get a quick "spike" in audio then it cuts out. I think the issue is some communication error between ableton and my old interface but I can't quite figure it out.

Here's what I’ve already tried:

  • Buffer sizes from low to 512
  • Running Ableton native and through Rosetta
  • Blank project with zero plugins
  • Turning off Reduced Latency When Monitoring
  • Turning off Delay Compensation
  • Matching sample rates everywhere
  • Reinstalling/toggling audio settings
  • Unlinking Apollo inputs and testing mono inputs
  • Different monitoring/input configs

Important details:

  • Apollo Twin Duo (older silver model)
  • MacBook Pro M4 Max
  • Ableton Live 12
  • Monitoring through Console is 100% stable
  • Problem ONLY happens when monitoring through Ableton
  • Using a mixer feeding both Apollo inputs

At this point I’m wondering if this is some kind of Live 12 + older Apollo + Apple Silicon compatibility issue, especially with realtime monitored inputs.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix? I'd appreciate any help I can get! Thanks.
