Maggoth Lord Kitbash: Tyranid Psychophage

Let's be real: The Maggoth Lords kit is old and crummy.

This uses a Tyranid Psychophage (which are still dirt cheap fwiw) plus an array of other Nurgle, Slaves to Darkness, and especially troll and giant bits to create an eight-armed monstrosity ripping the limbs off a helpless Stormcast for fun.

I've also magnetized two riders, axe and scythe, for a bit of extra clarity on the tabletop.

Looking forward to painting this with an OSL glow from the gaseous spinal emanations.

My favorite bit here is the use of a Gorebeast mask to give the Psychophage "eyes."

I'm all about useful and interesting proxies out of the cheapest possible miniatures on the market.

Anyone thinking about useful Kruleboyz applications of anything from the Ork half of the new boxed set? Personally I think the Painboy and Weirdboy could be good character proxies, as alternate shamans or Murknobs.

Grundstok Thunderer (maybe?).

Very small preview of a project that is just getting started.

For the curious, the arms and gun are from the necromunda prospectors kit, and the body is a heavily pruned Battlemasters Chaos Warrior (~1992), which are perfectly modern dwarf-sized. Obviously, the head is admech.

I've been experimenting for years with a pretty weird painting style. The OG Warriors of Chaos have become my favorite canvas.

Someday I'll do a tutorial but big picture, these are painted with an undercoat of Guache (thick watercolor) then thickly shaded with oil paint, highlighted with white oil, detailed with Dirty Down, and given bits of gloss wherever I feel like.
