Hi guys,
I’m very close to getting my jaw surgery trajectory started. I’ve already spoken to both the orthodontist and the jaw surgeon, and they’re ready to begin — I just need to start speech therapy first. I just want to hear your opinions on whether it’s really worth it, because right now it doesn’t feel that bad and I can probably live with it. But when I look at the pictures, I’m like: “Wow… that actually is bad.” And i am scared if i don't do it its gonna get worse and develop some health issues.
The whole process is going to be pretty intense for me. First, I need speech therapy because the way I speak, eat, and swallow is completely wrong. After that, I’ll need SARPE, then braces, then wisdom teeth removal, and finally double jaw surgery.
So yeah… I’m basically getting the full package.
For context: I have a 10 mm anterior open bite and a 12 mm overjet. I’m 23 and I don’t have any major health issues because of it. Speaking can be a bit weird sometimes, and biting into things like pizza is almost impossible because of the open bite — but that’s pretty much it.
