Remove the many layers of paint of a doorframe to start on a clean base and get some detail (sharper edges) back. I am finishing the clean up / sanding and will put primer paint on.

However there is a joint between those two pieces of wood (straight line on the left) that I am afraid will be visible or crack.

How would you deal with this to ensure no gap or cracking once painted? Paintable décorator caulk?
