im abt to hopefully go university of nottingham malaysia for september 26/27 intake for my first year. the academic calendar says semester 1,2 and a summer semester.

could anyone please tell me what the summer semester is for if it has any special activities or studies during it, if it’s optional or mandatory , and will i be missing out on anything critical in my first year if i don’t attend it.
