How I would expect the Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars. The following points are my attempt on doing so:
First Point of Note:
Emperor Palpatine survived because the Palpatine that was thrown off, was a clone of Palpatine, as Palpatine foresee that either Luke would have killed Vader and then him, or that Vader would return back to the Light, so he had a clone made for this, and then when into hiding to create the First Order from the shadows.
First Kylo Ren and Rey are brother and sister. (Now before you all bring your lightsaber pitchfork, listen to me). Palpatine wanted an army of Siths, so using DNA samples from the Jedi he had killed from Order 66, and other force sensitive kids, he made a cloning program to make Siths with little to no success, only few were force sensitive kids, one being Ray and another being Kylo, as the whole operation was taking place in a secret section of the Second Death Star, those clones (Who were still just infants), were jettison in an escape pod, as the escape pod that had Kylo was found by Han Solo, and the pod containing Ray drifted through space and eventually landed to Tatooine.
Second Point of Note:
As Kylo was being raised by Han, at the age of 8 or 9 (Choose whatever age), Han witness Kylo using Force, so Han take Kylo to the only person on the world that could use force, Luke, who had become a grandmaster and started his own Jedi Temple in a lush full, but peaceful planet.
While Ray was raised by scavenger, and due to that she never really wakens up her powers of Force, so she is naturally weak and less Force Sensitive.
Third Point of Note:
As Kylo was being trained by Luke, his Force-Sensitivity also increase, as he was being appealed by the dark side, and Luke did notice that, but he didn't straight up attempt to kill Kylo, Luke believe that he could stop this, he could turn Kylo to the Light Side, as he wouldn't make the same mistakes like the Master Obi Wan, and started doing everything he could.
But Kylo was just getting deep and deep in the Dark Side, as thanks to the Dark Side, Kylo was able to connect with Palpatine who further converted Kylo in the Dark Side, as Kylo was made with a part of Palpatine's own DNA, so he was able to hide the fact that he had already fully converted to the Dark Side, and when the time was right he burned down the new Jedi Temple, burning all the new Jedi/Younglings with it, as he escape.
As Luke watches the temple burning and blame himself for not properly acting upon it, as he when in depression and hides away, refusing to train anyone anymore, as he is still hunted by the memories of it.
Forth Point of Note:
Ray would be very inexperienced in all Jedi related, her force powers would be very weak that a pebble is all she could do in a moment, and during the first encounter, she was so overwhelmed and under prepared that she lost few of her dominate hand's fingers, and was only saved by an X-Wing raining down hell on Kylo.
Ray would be a tech head, while she wouldn't have much of an experience with complex tech of the Empire, she would jolly rig her way, like in chase climax when she was in the Falcon, she rushed to the hyper drive room, with BB, to fix the problem, and she had few scrape parts which she used to jolly rig the hyper drive to go, ofcause due to her jolly rigging, the hyper drive burned out and fries.
When Ray finds Luke, he would first outright refuse to teach her, and then only give hints and eventually start training her, but without any resistant or training wheel, as time is something they don't have, and all that Luke was able to teach Ray was to finally be able to reliability use force and basics of Lightsaber fighting style. But she is not on Kylo's level, she is almost at a Padawan level of training, and that Luke string up calls her fighting style sloppy, and her control of the force very lacklustre but that all he could trach her by that time.
She also have a part of Palpatine's DNA, so when she is having a high emotionally attack, her force power get over powered, like being able to shoot lightening out of fingers, but it both mentally and physically exhausting that Ray would entire just go unconscious, wouldn't be able of use force power for a bit, or just too weak to continue.
And she is having a struggle to fight the Dark side and Palpatine's influence.
