Hey all,

I’m a long-time Redditor, but I lost my old account and this is a newly created one.

We’ve been running into a weird issue and hoping someone has seen something similar. Our environment is a hospital, so uptime is critical. Right now, we’re on UMS 12 but still on OS 11. We’ve recently added a new UMS 12 server and are planning a full upgrade to OS 12. We’re keeping the servers separate for now since it feels safer for uptime.

Our VDI setup is Omnissa on Horizon 8.9 v2303, running on vSphere 8.0.3.0.800. We also use Imprivata for SSO: G4 2025-1-1 and OneSign 1240014-7-12-4.

The problem we’re seeing mostly on iGel devices is that sometimes users log in and just get a completely black screen. It’s intermittent, so it’s hard to reproduce, but it’s been happening enough to be concerning.

I’ve tried fine-tuning the GPO on the golden images and optimized the Horizon preferences to follow best-practice white page settings, but the issue still comes up.

After we complete the iGel rollout, we’re planning to upgrade both Horizon and Imprivata to align with the hardware firmware.

Has anyone run into this before? Any tips on what might cause this black screen behavior or things to check would be super helpful.
