in the process of purchasing a house. inspector found this: cracked cinder blocks on either side of the crawlspace entrance. Recommendation was to have contractor and engineer look at it.
Engineer says, "yes of course it needs to be assessed and fixed."
Contractor 1 says, "the structure will eventually fail, you need to have it fixed."
Contractor 2, who I know personally, says, "person building the foundation forgot to leave space for crawl space door and used a hammer to knock out space for crawlspace door. the structure is not compromised."
Contractor 3 says, "person building the foundation forgot to leave space for crawl space door and used a hammer to knock out space for crawlspace door. the structure is not compromised."
Can any contractors, engineers, masons, foundation experts weigh in?
The house if 14 years old, and no additional real issues. What would be range of costs to have fixed (if that's needed). Any insight, experiences, information would be great to hear.
I have pictures i can send
Thanks.
