THE PL BRIEF - Matchweek 36

Two games left and almost every FPL call this week ties back to season context, so I pulled together a brief covering it. Sharing in case it helps with last-minute captain/transfer decisions.

Quick rundown:

  • Captain math: Gyokeres at home vs already-relegated Burnley is the obvious shout. Trossard sub-1% ownership if you want a differential in the same fixture.
  • Liverpool vs Villa (Thursday): Winner takes UCL, loser drops to Europa. This is the swing fixture for Salah, Watkins, Rogers, Konsa. Anyone holding either should to weigh motivation vs. realistic game state.
  • Title race: Arsenal (79) control it with two wins. If they drop a point and City (77) win out, City take it on GD (+43 vs +42). Worth factoring in for how Arsenal attackers get used over the final games.
  • Relegation scrap: Spurs (38) vs West Ham (36). Spurs have Everton (A) then Chelsea — not a soft run-in, and their assets have been wobbly.
  • Hot take from the brief: Arsenal's lead is built on set-piece efficiency more than open-play dominance. Man Utd actually tops the 2026 calendar-year table (34 pts from 48).

Full brief at the link above.

Curious where people are landing on Salah hold/sell with the Villa game looming, and whether anyone's still considering Haaland (C) over Gyokeres given the GD scenario.
