Should we be concerned after our mold test?
Hey all, my wife and I are looking at buying our first home together. We were required to get an inspection of the property and with that a mold test, seeing as there was a leak on the property which resulted in the pantry and a section of the kitchen needing to be remediated February 2026. These were there findings…
Pantry/Kitchen (most relevant to the water leak):
• Total spores: 480/m³ (vs. 133/m³ outdoors).
• Aspergillus/Penicillium: 460/m³ (vs. 0 outdoors)
• Asp/Pen String: 53/m³.
• Other water indicators (e.g., Chaetomium, Stachybotrys) are absent or very low.
• Laundry Room: Lower overall (147/m³ total)
• Microscope images: Show typical particulates; no massive infestation visible.
Since then the current owners have hired a plumber to inspect the property for any leaks or mold and have told us there is nothing to worry about, but it’s not sitting right with my wife and I. Should we be concerned?
