For the longest time, I neglected social media and only viewed film festivals and the traditional path to success as a filmmaker as legitimate.
Recently, after yet another bank account draining passion project, I found myself a bit puzzled with my process: spend thousands of dollars to make a short film that realistically, will only be seen by a few hundred people.
I’m really not here to knock festivals - I love them. I’ve just realized I want to be making films as often as possible, and the way I’ve been doing it - basically pouring all my money into each one - isn’t sustainable
So recently, my goal has been to embrace what I used to reject, and make punchy, vertical shorts and put them out on social media and YouTube. Low to no budget - only the cost of lunch.
It's actually been extremely freeing. When I made one short a year or one every other year, there was a tremendous pressure for it to be great, with all of my money riding on it. Now, I can take big swings, and not fear so much if it's a miss, which has opened me up creatively, and also just allowed me to have a ton of fun.
Anyway- all of that to say, please enjoy, "Cockblocked by Landlord". And check out more of the stuff we've been making! (Instagram - @peoplezoofilms ) (YouTube - @peoplezoo )
