I’m currently working in the ESG field and have around 4 years of experience. My background started as a Data Analyst, where my work included client responses, carbon data collection, reviews, acting as a Carbon SME, and related tasks.

I’ve now moved to another organization where I work on ESG Ratings, which combines many of these responsibilities along with controversies research.

The pay is decent, but I’m looking to move into a higher-paying role. From what I see, many of those opportunities are in the tech space, so I’m considering to move there.

The challenge is that I don’t have direct IT experience yet, but I’m open to doing certifications and courses.

My question is:

Given my background, should I focus on ESG-related certifications, programming/languages, or AI/data skills to increase my earning potential and career growth.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has made a similar switch or works in these areas?
