Service 'Scams'
So I've noticed more and more at least in my area that simple repairs are being blown out of proportion. The most recent example of this being:
The blower motor in my 2019 model X stopped blowing. You could adjust the fan speed and hear a slight noise from the fan, but overall it wouldn't blow except occasionally. It would come on for a while. Maybe during the middle of a drive, if you hit a bump for something like that. And then it would be non operational again, after parking and starting to drive again.
I put in to the mobile app that I would like mobile service to come out and do a blower motor replacement.
I was told that type of service is not available by the service center in birmingham.Alabama fayetteville, georgia and kennesaw georgia, all three concurred. That is not a service that mobile service is capable of accomplishing.
Additionally, they quoted me around six hundred dollars to repair it.And when I argued with them about it for a while they told me, I should come into the service center for diagnosis.
The blower motor costs a $170. True tesla and the blower motor fet assembly is twenty five dollars
Upon arrival in the service center, my credit card was preauthorized fifteen hundred dollars for repairs that had not even begun as I was standing in front of my car with the advisor and he said, oh any tickets over five hundred dollars. Now have to be prepaid in advance.
I was pre-charged with a plan to evacuate and recharge the coolant system, and I'm pretty sure they even were going to replace the. Rear blower motor that my car doesn't even have mind you. The actual blower motor and field effect transistor were not even listed on the ticket. And the advisor was berating me about throwing parts at it.Talking about the freeze protection code on the car, which in the listed suggestions for fixes, even suggested the blower motor be checked to confirm its operational
Needless to say, I received a refund and proceeded to order a 47. Dollar blower motor on Amazon and fixed the problem myself in about 25 minutes. But i'm just sort of standing here scratching my head.Is this the real costs of beating earnings Every quarter?
Do we now have to pay a premium to access the service floor? Is mobile service not that profitable?
