I am missing my wedding ring and it normally is by the vanity in our master bath if it’s not in my finger. I’ve looked everywhere and would like to rule out the unlikely but possible event that it’s in the P trap under my sink.

1. Is there a way to check this without taking the p trap off, maybe with an industrial magnet or something?

2. if I do need to remove the p trap to check, is this easy enough to do as a non plumber? I have pipe dope and have done some mild work before. Are there any watch outs?
