I was watching this not too long ago and I was thinking wow, Laura was so mean to Mary here! I get it, all the boys like Mary and Laura’s jealousy sets in, but that part where that kid with the slingshot was about to hurt an innocent animal and Mary was just yelling No! Mary did run up to him and try to stop him, but Laura thinks Mary is trying to get Johnny’s attention so Laura says, see what you did? You got them both in trouble. Why didn’t you just grab the slingshot instead of squealing for Johnny to come to your rescue? Mary tells her, well if that isn’t calling the kettle black and says she doesn’t give a hoot for her dumb old Johnny Johnson. Laura yells at her and says he’s not dumb, and just for that you can walk home by yourself! Mary was right though, Laura was the one who wanted his attention. Laura jumped in the creek so she could wear her Church dress and bows in her hair to school that day. Laura was also calling Mary two faced, yelling at her, telling her to shut up. Accusing Mary of being two faced, when what could she do but be nice? Does anyone else have any thoughts on this episode? I know it’s been talked about before but I just can’t get over how horrible Laura was to Mary here.
