Why is Menards delivery fee so high? I am building a deck and wanted to get the lumber delivered. Menards is new to my city, and I wanted to compare prices. I have the same items in my cart at HD and Menards, and the total before rebate is very similar. My totals are: HD $2,035.42, and Menards is $2,042.34. The shipping cost is drastic. HD is $79 and Menards is $917. Menards is 16 miles away, while HD is only 5 miles. Those 11 miles are not worth the $838 difference in delivery fees.
