i always pull a carfax and check owner complaints before buying a used car. carfax tells you what happened to that specific car, complaints tell you what tends to go wrong with that model. paints a decent picture together. Was helping my sister find one a few weeks back and figured itd be fun to build something on the side its at klunk.app. uses NHTSA complaint data to score every car 0-100 by year, shows worst problems and active recalls. theres a chrome extension that drops the score onto cars/carvana/autotrader listings while you browse. It's free, no signup. I still pair it with a carfax myself. just sharing in case anyones into the same research.
