Hi all,

First off, if there is a better sub-reddit to post this, please let me know. I'm on night shift and ya girl is tired.

I have recently started working in a hospital setting. I am extremely sensitive to fragrances - especially when it comes to cleaning. I am on allergy medications (Montelukast + fexofenadine) but exposure causes delayed reactions (wheezing/allergic asthma, flushed skin/rash, itchy and swollen lips/throat), mostly if the product/fragrance seeps into my hands or the smell lingers. I always use gloves when I need to use the Clinell wipes in open areas.

I cant use the provided hand santiser (Bactol) either so I carry my own bottle of Dettol.

I'm just wanting to hear from other people who either work in a clinical setting or use wipes when cleaning. What alternative products do you use?

I used to be okay with the "Home Brand" Blue anti-bac wipes from woolies before they switched to the "strike" home brand ones. I am sensitive to literally all of the ones in shops now. Whether its citrus, fruity, floral - all are a no go. I can't use any of the multi-purpose sprays either.

Any advice/product suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Low/No Fragrance Alternatives to Clinell wipes?

Hi All,

I've recently started working in a hospital setting, I'm unsure if my post will be deleted but I am not a nurse. I work alongside nurses in as a support worker. I need input from nurses who may deal with fragrance sensitivity.

I am highly sensitive to fragrances and I am struggling to use Clinell wipes in the enclosed areas i'm working. It is also a struggle when other staff use them to sanitise computer areas.

When I need to use them in open areas, I wear gloves to prevent the fragrance seeping into my skin which could cause a reaction (wheezing, flushed skin, itchy/swollen lips/throat)

I'm just wondering what options I have regarding sanitising/anti-bac wipes?
I also cant use the provided Bactol, so I carry my own Dettol gel.

Any advice would be helpful.
