Hi everyone! This is my first time asking in reddit and I really need someone's experience how to train or prepare for their first 70.3 ironman.
I have an upcoming race this June and I'm nervous about it since even though its my first race, i want at least as close in achieving a sub-6. I am a self trained triathlete and have done sprint and standard distance.
I've started to build by base around september 2025 and I'm at large volume week. for the month of march until now my bike mileage per week average around 6-7 hours at 170-190km. as for my run, im currently running around 3hrs per week, ranging from 25-32km. for swim, i am currently doing 5000m per week. for strengthening, 1hr per week. My week consist of an easy, tempo/intervaIs, and long sessions. I also trained my nutrition during a long brick (2hrs ride, 1hr run) estimated around 70-80carbs/hr and 700-1000mg sodium.
To be honest, there was a lot of trial and error with everything to some of them led me to slight injuries and a lot of progress. I do enjoy the process of learning the sport from the discplines to nutrition. BUT, as a self trained, sometimes I do question myself in these training. So, I will try to ask here in reddit for your opinions and suggestions. Would these be enough to achieve my goal or do i need to push my numbers more?
Thank you in advance ❤️
