This is my first succulent experience. The original plant became too big for its pot, plus that pot had no drainage. Now I have propagated its upper stem to a different better pot and also tried to water propagate its healthiest leaf but it has caused the leaf (which was very firm and healthy when initially plucked out) to become a bit flaccid and wrinkly.
Google AI suggested that it because it absorbed too much water and its cells literally ruptured because of it. But not sure how that happened because I followed all the textbook instructions
- Dried the leaf for 3 4 days after detaching from parent to ensure the wound calluses to prevent infection.
- In the water propagation setup, ensured the leaf was a few inches above the water and its cut end was not submerged or in contact.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.
