I have a interview with Norfolk Southern for Terminal operator any advice?

I have a interview on the 20th and was curious of those who have had worked for Norfolk if they are a good company and if there apprenticeship is good or not. I have my class A CDL which is why I assume I even got the interview, but I'm not sure. So, any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How can I best prepare for my upcoming IUOE interview?

Hi everyone,

Im excited but nervous about my upcoming interview this 18th with local 181. I was told it's very important that I make a good impression during this interview, though I don't know how to approach the interview. What kinda of questions is going to be asked? Should I bring in copies of my twic card and Class A CDL to give to the people interviewing me? I just wanna make sure I do good on this interview. I've always remember as a little kid watching my local construction sites and seems these big machines move dirt, rock, etc around and it was so fascinating. So having the chance to get into a apprenticeship, is a dream come true. So if anyone who has had a interview recently or vets in the local can give me advice id appreciate it very much and hopefully can eventually call myself a brother of local 181. Thanks in advance.

Could someone help me better understand what a millright is and does?

I mean no disrespect and to be frank I'm actually trying to get into my local to be a millright. I just can't seem to figure out exactly what a millright does. I like to weld millrights weld, I want to work on heavy machinery millrights work heavy machinery, and the list goes on. So my understanding this far is a millright is a jack of many trades master of none or am I wrong? I seen millrights dont make much compared to the other trades counterparts, although they can do the jobs the others can do. Im just confused and would really love someone to explain it to me. Thank you.

What should I do?!?

So, I have applied to many unions IUOE, Millrights, UA, and IBEW as well as the boilermakers union. What I'm getting at is I really wanna be part of the union and my goal was to become a pipeline welder, however my only responses is from IUOE I have a interview on the 18th and I got lucky and was given direct contact with a president of the millright local. But I really wanna become a welder as stated, so my question is should I try to get into UA or chase the other two opportunities? I know a aptitude test is required so I'm kinda nervous about that with the UA, but I've been told it isn't that bad but I don't know. Anyway thanks for any advice.

Hey guys,

I've got a interview coming up soon and was curious what's the actual training like. Im interviewing local 181 and I've been told you do a interview which takes 15 mins, then they reach back out to do a 2 week orientation, then they rank you based on how you do (I assume) and then if you do good enough they accept you. Well what exactly is the orientation like and do they train you for 4 years at the training site or do the train you some then send you out on a job? Anyone that could better help me understand this process would be much appreciated. Lastly, I have my Class A CDL and a twic card and up to date dot physical, will this help my chances of getting accepted or not really?

Thanks
