Any chance iRacing would change the slow down penalty system for corner cut when time was lost?

I get it, it was probably late 00s when the current system was introduced. There was not way the code could account for different scenarios.

But we are in 2026. We don't even need AI to determine if time was lost or gain by cutting a corner.

For example, I was doing IMSA at Spa on a GT3. Some impatient Max wannabe on a GTP goes for the last second overtake into Eau Rouge. I lift, take a weird line to avoid the crash. Get a incident which in the end end up being decisive for getting a last-lap black flag drive through. And on top of all that, I get a slow down penalty. Seriously? There is gotta be a way to fix this stupidity. The GTP is the one who would be penalized in real life for a reckless maneuver.

I am hoping people can be honest here and share their thoughts.

I am sure some people here had successful protests for retaliation and intentional wrecking filed against them. And I am also sure some of those people know that it was in fact a retaliation and intentional wrecking (some might still feel like it was a racing incident even if the dive bomb was intentional).

Have you changed your approach to racing after? Are you trying to be safer or did it just make you angrier at the system? Or did you see the email, deleted it, and forgot?

I hope iRacing also performs some research and assess whether their system (both protests and SR) is in fact promoting respectful and competitive racing as they claim).
