I don't mind Deck building like games, had tons of fun with Hearthstone and even bought Balatro twice (Mobile and Steam)

I've checked out a few indie games with the mechanic and they have some interesting takes, I can take them or leave them.

But I was watching Second Wind's showcase from last month and it seemed like every 3rd or 4th game was a Deck Builder of some such. And I just felt so tired of seeing cards on screen.

Talking to some friends who also game, we think the Deck builders being a relatively simple mechanic to build and one you can fill out with any artwork you have a desire for. The biggest challenge is balance and fun, which unfortunately if you glut the market with games that miss the balance and fun even with amazing art you burn the target audience away from other games in the genre.

Mainly because I think with the rise of AI art and coding you could see a bunch of people flooding the market with their take on the games hoping to replicate Balatro and Slay the Spire success but not fully grasping the amount of work that went into making the deck builders unique and instead just hoping they can grab a small slice of a big pie not realising how many others are about to compete with them.

Have you seen the number of upcoming Deck Builders? This might be too much for the market to bare right?
