Hello r/Substack!

My independent cycling blog, not on Substack, publishes a list of cycling-related Substacks to follow. We (me and other writers on the blog) love the platform and appreciate the work that Substack-ers do to get their writing out there.

Recently we’ve been floating the idea of breaking out our recommendations based on more niche topic area. Right now the list includes both pro racing coverage (including known cycling journalists or teams that maintain a presence on the platform) and amateurs (cyclists who write about their own or the broader consumer experience with bikes and cycling, such as bike/tech reviews). We are considering creating a second list with a focus on the amateurs experience while building out the original list with any additional recs for the pro racing side.

Reaching out here today to get this community’s recommendations for whether any specific area of cycling is growing or popular on Substack.

Any under the radar knowledge? We’d love to hear from anyone who enjoys the big cycling races like Tour de France if you follow any Substacks that touch on these topics, especially as that time of year approaches. You guys are really plugged into the Substack ecosystem so you may know that newsletters in this niche are growing, or that they haven’t hit the “mainstream” in any real way yet. Is this a popular area on Substack, or not at all?

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts!

Over the early part of the season it feels like Evenepoel is evolving his approach to racing, not just performing at a high level but actually approaching races differently. If his move to Red Bull results in him becoming a more tactically mature, well-rounded rider, will he have a shot at GC in this year’s Tour?

This was covered as an opinion article (linked) but I’m curious to hear what others think. Yes he has a podium at Tour of Flanders (impressive for someone with limited cobbles experience) and a win at Amstel Gold Race over Skjelmose this season, but does it mean a lot at this point?

Against Pogi and even Vinge, he hasn’t made a big dent. For Red Bull it seems like the Tour is the real target.

What do YOU think? Can he win (or even just podium), or is this too optimistic based on his current form?
