PNW: Some interesting things to consider with bioacoustics technology

I did some digging into this, and it turns out that bioacoustics are being used across the world as a new way to monitor species migration and generally where they reside in any given moment.
Bioacoustic devices (hereby "devices") are distributed throughout forests and even on top of buildings to record audio data, which is recorded over the course of days to weeks. These devices are then retrieved, the data is offloaded and processed by AI, and the species are identified. By marking the coordinates of where each device was placed, a map of activity can be created - allowing analysts to see where target species tend to move through.

A side effect of this practice is being able to identify human movements, given that these devices are placed in a continuous grid that allows sounds to be monitored without any gaps in space.

If you look on that link, you'll see that this company (one of many across the US and world) is asking volunteers to set up these devices in our PNW forests. You'll see that many of these areas also directly coincide with NA rez's, campgrounds, and other questionable locations.

There is no evidence as to why these locations were chosen, so if you choose to participate - pay attention to what it seems like is really going on. It may be innocent to begin with, but this data is sold to the highest bidder, and it just so happens that the highest bidders don't like people living off the land.
