I've always had trouble making friends but trying to make friends in college has really confused me. The only people I've meet are:

  1. They say they'll reach out again to invite me to X event after we supposedly had a good time together last time. I don't reach out again and wait for it and now we haven't spoken to each other in months
  2. I thought I was becoming good friends with someone through a club until suddenly idk what happened. I reached out to her twice in a row a few weeks apart to check up on her and she didn't seem upset but didn't reach out again. We haven't spoken in months now because I stopped reaching out first
  3. I've suggested hanging out with some people before and they would always agree enthusiastically but then they never follow up to ask me to hang out
  4. I kept reaching out first to this person who I wanted to be friends with and she would only ever respond but never message first. I asked if she could invite me to a group event the next time she is there and she said yes but hasn't invited me to anything and I stopped trying so we aren't friends
  5. I have study sessions with certain people and we have good conversations but as soon as they're not in need of a study buddy anymore, they completely ghost me. They don't even bother to reply to my small talk message and just leave me hanging

I can understand being busy--I'm also very busy--but agreeing to make plans and then never following through or straight up ghosting me is so weird? I can understand not vibing with me but how can this be every friend I try to make? I'm autistic and I try my best to be nice and normal. I can talk well with people and we seem to be having a good time but then I realize we aren't close at all and they don't consider me a friend at all. I don't know what to do at this point

i've witnessed and personally experienced actions from staff that seemed to be rooted in prejudice. i don't know what the screening process is like for non-student staff but i think they need to hire more carefully. some things i've experienced or saw happen to others were honestly disgusting and can leave a lasting impression on poc students. there are select staff that also TARGET students of certain races and harass them on more than one occasion.

i know this is just how america is but it's very uncomfortable having to interact with them without the choice otherwise because they work in places i must go to.
