It's becoming a contest of wills between me and this needle

It's becoming a contest of wills between me and this needle

Pattern is Woodland Glen Shawl by Denise Bartels

Yarn is Knit Picks Palette

So I decided I wanted to knit this shawl in fingering weight with the goal of it being BIG. I love a big smooshy fingering weight shawl. so I cast on with a 16" needle and figured I'd transfer it to a 24" once it got a bit unwieldy. (For those who maybe don't knit shawls, a big triangle shawl starts at the center top and you work out and down on the bottom--aka longest--edge, growing by 4 stitches every two rows.)

Folks, I cannot find the 24" needle. It has not been wieldy for some time. I'm about halfway through the charts so the stitches will probably still double. Every time I look away from it, stitches are popping off. Yes, I could buy another needle. I don't wanna. (I could also use something to cap my needles and have been when I remember to. Which is not most of the time.)

On the bright side, this pattern is a really good lace pattern. If you've ever wanted to try an all-over lace shawl with a charted pattern, you could do a lot worse than this. So far, everything has been crystal clear and the pattern has a clear and logical way that it builds that means you don't really have to follow the chart stitch by stitch once you understand what each row is doing.

Just have a needle longer than 16".

Also, this colorway of Palette is called Tidepool Heather and it is my everything. It practically glows in the sun.
