Hey everyone, I recently started driving and yesterday evening I had to navigate through some really narrow alleys behind my building — cars parked on both sides, barely enough room. Took me about 5 minutes of extremely slow crawling.

The issue is that during those entire 5 minutes I used zero throttle. I controlled the car purely with the clutch and brake (foot brake), always in 1st gear. I'm pretty sure I was holding the clutch at the biting point for way too long, and just alternating between clutch and brake the whole time.

At the end of it, the car started smelling really bad. Did I burn the clutch?

What would the alternative look like? If I accelerate even the tiniest bit, the car is very fast to react - that's why I avoided any acceleration (diesel).
