Hi folks - I’m 37 mf and nearly 7 weeks post-op from a knee replacement. This is my 7th surgery on this knee and I’m diagnosed hEDS and RA by my rheumatologist.
I work full time, closer to 45 hours/week, and have a pretty stressful job (I work in climate mitigation and adaptation in the US 🫠). My question is: for others that have gone through a relatively “major” surgery, how long did it take for you to overcome the post-surgical fatigue? I find I can’t make it more than a few hours without a nap. An hour around lunch time and an hour+ after work. I sleep 7.5 hours overnight and am still exhausted.
I can’t take more time off as I’ve just about depleted my sick time after 3 weeks off post-op. I also just found out my employer is changing its work from home policy to a standard maximum 1 day from home. I currently work 3 days from home - my only saving grace.
Any tips for someone struggling with standard EDS stuff on top of surgical recovery? The current economic and political landscape is not friendly to my expertise/experience so finding another job is not an easy feat right now.
