Hello - looking for some support and insight.
This whole Lyme this has been so overwhelming and confusing.
I’ve been seeing a functional medicine doctor for years. She’s helped me through pregnancy, miscarriages, H Pylori and gut health issues. After years of being pregnant and nursing, I was working on my hormones and thyroid.
June of last year I got Covid again. Ever since then, my life has been in shambles. My symptoms got increasingly worse but here’s a list:
- flu like symptoms while ovulating
- freezing/chills in hot temperatures - no fever
- nervous system just totally out of whack - I would have something (toddlers/dog) stress me out in the morning for five minutes and the rest of the day was pointless, just so so fatigued.
- brain fog/ poor communication abilities
- weird allergic reactions to things that I had never had reactions to before (gel nails for example)
- alcohol just WRECKED me. But not a hangover the next day, but a few days later these symptoms would just be way more intense.
So my functional medicine doctor heard these symptoms and suggested I tested for Lyme. Sure enough, I tested positive for the following things
Borrelia
Babesia
Bartonella
So here’s my first few questions:
is it common for someone to have three strands? Are there large differences?
I don’t even remember ever being bit - I live in Utah! Ticks aren’t a huge here.
I’m confused on what I’ve read online. Is it like mono and never goes away? Is chronic Lyme a thing?
Also - did it flare up because of Covid? Is that a thing
So my doctor put me on a bunch of stuff that I’ve been slowly increasing my intake of:
-phytocidal
-cryptolepis
- methleyne blue
- azyrhromicin (about to start)
I don’t really understand how these all work- so if someone has the knowledge, that would be so helpful.
Anyways so I’ve been taking most of these and I’ve been doing an antihistamine diet.
Things seem to be better. Way less fatigued and brain fog seems to have cleared a ton. My other symptoms genuinely feel like they are going away. Except… I have intense joint pain in my fingers and all the sudden my old shin splint pain is back.
A few clueless questions:
Is this normal? To have new symptoms while working through it all?
Anything I can do to ease the pain? I’m shocked by it and work at a computer all day.
Antihistamine diet - is this a forever thing?
Anyways - anything else you might think of or have advice, I’ll gladly take it. I’m an overwhelmed working mother of two toddlers trying to navigate something that feels confusing and not very straightforward.
