2016 Chevy Traverse. My brakes were bad so I brought it to a shop, the guy said the struts also weren't great, but wanted almost $900 for the brakes. I couldn't do that so I bought the parts myself and had some friends who work on cars do the brakes for me. They did the back pads and rotors and had to switch out the caliper on the back passenger side. They only did pads on the front (even though it also needs new rotors... which I guess we'll do soon).
My mother ended up picking the car up and said it was rough driving home. It was pulling to the right while braking. When I drove it this morning it wasn't pulling to the right, but when I made a sharp right it had this really clunky vibration that I could feel and hear. It's fine going straight and ok on wide right turns. Going slower makes it better. However, I parked and turned the wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right. At certain parts turning left I kinda felt/heard it, but only barely. On turning it right I felt it. I tried to hold it in that spot but it won't stay. It goes slightly left or right and stops the sound/feeling. I haven't seen any fluid leaking. They did bleed the brakes and put new brake fluid in.
My traction control turned off while driving and I got a "service stabilitrak" warning. However, it's gotten better as I drove it, like significantly better.
I'm kind of freaking out cause I'm a single mom who really doesn't have the money right now to fix yet another thing, but at the same time I don't want something terrible to happen. I had to drop my daughter off at school and now have to take my son to school and mom to work. Then I'd like to try to see if I can figure out what's wrong. What should I look for?
Google said it could be the ABS wiring (that it may have gotten caught when they did the brakes), or it could be the dust shield, the CV axle, or the strut... but I want to ask people who know what they're doing and what to look for. I'm gonna ask one of the guys who did the work, but they're not mechanics and also felt that my rotors with deep scratches didn't need to be replaced because the lip wasn't bad. Please help.
