Hello
I (f23) got suspended at work for the FIRST time ever in the 4 years I’ve been at Amazon. I had been harassed at work by a man (28) and had to physically defend myself to get him off and away from me. There had been a PA that repeatedly telling him to leave me alone but wouldn’t. He was grabbing/taking my arms and and my property (phone bag headphones badge).
He had also broke my lunch at midnight and laughed the whole time while I had nothing to eat. He intentionally sat at my lunch table to upset me ( he’s never sat there before). I could only take so much and my only defense was a color pencil (specifically the forest green) and I tried to “stab” his hand. Yes, I understand I could’ve controlled myself better.
This was in front of the PA who also offered to do a report to HR with me only for them to suspend me with pay (I’m flex and can’t pick up shifts to get paid) but the man is freely working. I saw on the compute that someone wrote “the caveat is she didn’t report it BEFORE the attempted stabbing” but I literally had a PA try to stop it. Plus our managers literally play Clash of Clans during work and get nothing done because they’re fresh out of college students.
I’ve been waiting for a phone call from HR and loss prevention but is it even worth it? I’ve had multiple coworkers/friends text me saying they would’ve done worse or that even wrote witness statements in my favor.
Like what should I do? Wait it out or just find a new job. My boyfriend and parents are telling me to speak to an attorney if I get fired and he doesn’t. I just need a non coworker/family member perspective if that’s ok. Thank you!
