I’ve noticed a lot of people asking about non-bar activities or places to meet people in JC lately, so I wanted to share that I’m hosting a handful of art events starting May 6th.
I’m doing this through the FADE Initiative to help build a bit more of a community for self-taught formal art education here. If you’ve felt stuck in your art or just want a structured place to practice, here’s what we’re doing:
- Monthly Figure Drawing Class and Meetup (starting May 6, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM): We have a live model and spend an hour on open studio practice after a short lesson. It’s great if you’ve been wanting to work on anatomy or observational skills.
- Weekly Drawing 101 Class(starting May 6, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM): This is for anyone who feels like they can't seem to figure out what's wrong with their art. We go over the technical side - value, perspective, line work, and so on - to help get your sketches to a more professional level.
- Weekly Art and drawing meetups: We also have two free events each week that you can attend at your leisure. These art meetups are designed to foster community connection. One on Tuesday and one on Saturdays.
- Monthly Plein Air in the Mountains Meetups: If you’d rather be outside, we’re also doing an art meetup series through out the year starting with Rock Creek Recreation Area. It’s a great way to work on landscapes and get some fresh air while the weather is actually nice. All art forms are welcome.
Pre-order a ticket and get a discount at fadeinit.org/events-meetups/. I’ll be there every Wednesday. If you're interested or have questions, feel free to DM me.
