This is for my dad. He's just gotten into radio and yesterday he came into contact with another person, as you do. This man then had a full on meltdown that my dad had ended up calling him on his frequency.
So I'm just wondering, is this normal? I get not wanting to talk to people but is there any need to go on a tangent about someone contacting you on your frequency?
I dont know enough about radios or anything so I'd appreciate some feedback!
Edit: Thank you to everyone who has commented! A little more context, my dad ended up on this particular frequency twice while flipping through a couple. I will edit again when I grab my dad's Facebook post about it when I'm home cause he goes into detail there!
My dad's post: "Morning. I would like to ask some advice. Last night 30th April, I found a station from Solvina on 14mhz calling CQ, after 15 attempts to inniate a contact, I moved on and a hour later returned to the same frequency. Where there was a number of very powerful stations calling CQ. After a gap of about 10 minutes of hearing nothing but static. I put a brief CQ call out. What happened next has left me shaken and wondering if Ham radio is for me I make no secret I came to Amatuer radio via 70s CB and whilst having a licence since 1989, have only just got into thr hobby. So what happen? A 5 minute rant from the station in Slovina aimed at me using my call sign for calling CQ on his frequency. Of course any attempt to apologise was met with QSB. Is this normal or did I just come across a bad experience."
Another edit to add: We are in the UK! More specifically Wales if that helps anyone!
