Coworker & Manager

I came into work today and a coworker approached me and said, “Our manager treats you like shit, and it’s not right. I hope you don’t mind, but I mentioned it to the VP.” I told her that I stopped letting it bother me a long time ago. What’s frustrating is that I’m often left out of conversations regarding ongoing issues, updates, or decisions. One-on-one, my manager is usually respectful and approachable, but when others are around, especially in group settings, the dynamic changes and it often feels like he tries to undermine me. I take pride in the work I do. I stay proactive with safety concerns, write Condition Reports, JHAs, schedule training, and consistently put effort into supporting the team and the project. I consider myself a hardworking safety professional, so situations like this can be discouraging.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? And why?
