Hey everyone, looking for people with a similar experience.

I have a partial ACL tear (diagnosed as “Part. Ruptur VKB” in Germany where I live) with chronic knee instability. My doctor prescribed physiotherapy —

6 sessions, 1–3x per week.

My situation is a bit specific: I can walk and run in a straight line completely fine with zero pain. But the moment I make a quick turn while running or land from a jump, my knee just gives out. When that happens I get pain for about two weeks, then it goes back to normal until the next time it happens.

I had to stop playing football because of this.

My doctor (orthopedic surgeon) said I do not need surgery and that physiotherapy and strengthening is the way to go. I’m going with that for now but curious about others’ experiences.

I’m wondering:

•	Has anyone managed this long-term with just physio and strengthening?

•	Did your knee eventually stabilize or did it keep giving way?

•	Anyone return to football / sport after a partial tear without surgery?

•	For those who go to the gym — how do you train with this? What exercises do you avoid? Do you still do legs? Any movements that helped stabilize your knee?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks 🙏
