Students questioning information that is explicitly stated

My students take an assessment in which they have to prepare a product. We practice multiple products, but I make an information page about the assessment and explain that students will make one of four products they have seen before. A student today asked me if they were going to have to prepare to make any of the 10 products they had made in class. I asked him if he saw the info page and what it said. He said he did see the page and that it said they would make one of four, but he was just checking.

Another student asked me about preparing one of the products they were NOT going to be making during the assessment. She, too, had seen the info page where I explicitly stated which products the students would have to potentially prepare.

Whyyy???! Why would I lie about this?! I WANT my students to be prepared! I am giving them ample information and resources! They even saw this information, and they still doubted it?!

I wanted to bang my head against the wall. IDK if these student has been burned by an instructor saying one thing and doing another before, but these students' questions really irked me.

End rant.
