Addicting!!

Well everyone here that commented on my last post was right- it’s ADDICTING! I think it’s a hobby that I needed long time ago because I have truly enjoyed going through online sites and stopping at some local coin shops.

My first purchase last week was online for a roll of 2026 American Silver Eagles (ASE), BU and a 2.5g Valcambi gold bar. I used the echeck method which was simple because I could use Plaid to connect to my bank and set it up that way. Should be delivered next week.

I was off work this weekend so I wanted to go to the LCS’s in the area. I purchased 1 ASE so I could handle and play around with it & leave the others in the sealed roll.

Do it matter if the roll stays sealed? At the LCS, I asked them that question and they said not really because they can look at coins and tell if it’s uncirculated and also they said that if someone brings a roll in, they are going to break the seal and get all of the coins out to count / inspect. What’s your thoughts?

Yesterday I bought bought 1, 1g Argor-Heraeus gold Kinebar for $160 at the LCS. I went back again today and bought another one 😳😎😂 I love them! What do you think about kinebars and do you think this was a good value? Regardless I like them just curious on everyone’s thoughts about leaving a roll of coins sealed or unsealed and the kinebars.

Hey everyone!

I’m new to collecting silver. I have a couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind to answer or if you don’t know there answer feel free to share some other information.

  1. I’ve attached 3 photos to this because I’m curious: why the price differences? If you were collecting is there one set you would purchase over the other? How big of a difference does the TEP packaging make? Will that depend on my end goals of silver? For example, do you pay more for that due to “preserving” the silver better and may be offered more for it 25 years down the road by collectors? But like, if for some reason you had to use it for bartering, they probably wouldn’t care about the packaging but how much silver you actually had? If you had to pick one for your collection, which would you choose?

  2. This will be my first time purchasing silver. I’ve seen many places online to purchase— is there a site you prefer over the others? Anything I should be looking for in particular when purchasing online so I don’t mess up and order from a “bad” site?
Can someone dumb down “spot pricing” for me 😂. What does that mean? The current market price? Or the market price + their commission fee? Like if it says $3.99 over spot or similiar.

  3. What advice would you give in general when collecting silver bars? I’m not too interested in coins or rounds right now but maybe I should look into that also. If I were going to start with $2,000.. what would you buy first? A couple bars, coins, rounds or would it be okay to just buy a pack above? I know it’s my decision at the end of the day I just want to see what you all think or any advice you could give me.. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it a lot.
