Accutane or Stuck with Acne

Hi!

For multiple years now I have struggled with acne whether it was hormonal, or bacterial, surface or deep. I also have pretty sensitive skin but it’s oily making it harder to treat. Ive tried countless topical treatments and gone to different derms as well. I’ve been prescribed and used tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide, another topical that I forgot the name of however none of them made a huge difference. I am currently using over the counter adapalene gel to treat some closed comedones and bacterial acne that is pretty mild. Ive been using it for about 5 months now and it’s made an okay difference but I still have textured skin and occasional breakouts. At this point I am fed up with acne and I’m interested in speaking with my dermatologist about accutane. My parents were concerned with the side effects but everyone reacts differently and if it means my acne will be very mild or gone then I’m good with that. Does anyone have any recommendations for something else that would work, should I stick with differin, or should I seriously consider trying to get prescribed accutane?

Thanks!
