So when I played the first game I was SUPER invested in the story, and by the time I reached the final stretch of the game I was so eager to see what happened that I rushed through the end so I could complete the story. I had been super into building out my roads and ziplines up to that point and told myself I'd just finish those things after beating the game, but once it was over struggled to do so because I felt like I had no real purpose or drive anymore, and eventually put the game down.
Contrast that to DS2, where I've enjoyed the gameplay but have found everything WAY easier than the first, and also feel like the atmosphere and story overall are lacking in comparison to the first. To be completely honest, I kind of think the story sucks shit compared to DS1, and have absolutely no investment in anything going on.
I've still enjoyed myself though and enjoy being a good little porter and building out my infrastructure. For those of you that have finished am I better off continuing to upgrade my infrastructure before finishing the story, or is it worth it to finish first and get some potential late game upgrades and then focus on infrastructure?
This question may be moot because right now the Magellan is out of commission, so I may have to advance to get it back anyway, but I'd assume I'll regain access to it before the official end of the game and just wanted to know what those of you have finished the story think is the best course of action. Because I'm not invested in the story this time around I don't feel any compulsion to rush to the end, but if there are worthwhile late game mechanics that will make fleshing out my infrastructure more enjoyable then I'd be down to beat the story first
