I have a European PhD, 30 publications and 1500 citations, all in semiconductors. Three publications are in Nature journals. A few years ago, one of my friends hired a lawyer for their case. I studied their petition letter and recommendation letters to understand the writing style and important aspects to highlight in Petition Letter.

I prepared my petition letter and drafted the recommendation letters (one dependent and three independent). With all this done, do I need to hire a lawyer for a final review. They quoted me $1200 for a review. What other value can they add which I don't know yet. Does USCIS value a Petition Letter, prepared by an experienced lawyer.

I will be applying from outside the US.
