I am confused
Can someone help me understand? I bought my home about two years ago. Today my wife wanted to put up ceiling fans in our son’s room. As I remove the boob light I notice that the wires are 14 gauge (white sheathing). My breaker panel is all 20 amp breakers with 12 gauge (yellow sheathing) coming out. From my understanding there should be no 14 gauge wire on a 20 amp breaker. Should I be concerned about this?
Additionally, we wanted to add some recessed lighting in our living room. I had planed on tapping into the power from our ceiling fan/light combo in our living room and daisy chain the lights using 12 gauge wire due to me looking at the breaker panel and seeing 20 amp breakers but the whole situation has me second guessing.
