So I’ve been watching Digimon Data Squad / Savers and something about Masaru’s whole DigiSoul thing has been bugging me. Touma and Yoshino can pretty much activate their DigiSoul and evolve their partners without any weird extra step. Meanwhile, Masaru out here throwing hands every single time like it’s mandatory.
What’s confusing me is that it doesn’t even feel symbolic. Like, I first thought it was just his way of expressing determination or willpower, but there are actual moments where if he fails to land a punch, his DigiSoul just… doesn’t charge. So it makes it seem like the physical impact is genuinely required, not just a personality quirk.
Is there an in-universe explanation for this later on, or is it just “that’s how Masaru works” kind of thing? I’d rather not get spoiled if it does get explained, but I’m curious if I’m overthinking it or if there’s actually something deeper going on.
