I’m a huge fan of the Dark Academia aesthetic, and I just stumbled across this book on Amazon that I haven’t seen anyone talking about yet. It’s called "The Journey & Discovery of Mythology" by eK71.
I usually find mythology books a bit too "Disney" or colorful, but the art in this is pure Ink-Wash Chaos. It feels like a mix of Vagabond (Takehiko Inoue) and those old 19th-century woodcut engravings. The contrast is incredibly heavy and moody—perfect for a rainy day study vibe.
Apparently, there are over 100 illustrations in just the first book (Greek Mythology). I grabbed it because it's currently on sale for like 43% off for the launch.
I’m honestly blown away that an indie illustrator is putting out this level of detail. It doesn't just feel like a book; it feels like an artifact you'd find in a hidden library.
Has anyone else picked this up? I’m dying to know if the Norse and Chinese volumes they have planned are going to be this high-quality.
Search "eK71 Mythology" on Amazon if you want to see the rest of the spreads. The Atlas one is legendary.
